Great efforts have been made in the scientific odontological world in order to reduce one of the main factors that lead to failures in compounded resin Class II restorations : the marginal infiltration. It is known that, when the first resin increment is held under pressure in the proximal case during its polymerization, statistically significant results in the reduction of marginal infiltration are attained (CALIXTO, A.L.; CANDIDO, M.S.M. MAZUR, R.F.JBC, v.5, n. 30, p. 491-7, dec./jan. 2002). The transparent Fotoplus instruments with their four different active tips have been developed specifically for the application of this technique.
